Car Control Clinics

Your BMW is an engineering marvel, with systems and technology designed not only to thrill but to keep you and your loved ones safe. Learning your car’s capabilities and how to work with its systems will make you a better driver on public roads or on the track, and we can help.

All of our clinics are 1-day programs held on a closed course at moderate speeds. Through classroom sessions and in-car exercises with our experienced instructors, you’ll learn topics including emergency braking, cornering theory, weight transfer, and accident avoidance. BMWs and other makes are welcome.

We offer several Car Control Clinic (CCC) programs, each tailored to the needs of its audience. Once you’ve completed CCC, apply your skills at GGC Autocross or High Performance Driving Experiences (HPDE). For a full list of activities, see our Event Calendar.

  • Explore vehicle dynamics in a controlled environment, with you at the wheel. Each participant receives coaching tailored to fit the student’s experience and needs. Exercises include skidpad, slalom, ABS/threshold braking, emergency avoidance maneuvers and proper use of the steering wheel, brakes, and throttle. No prior experience is necessary, and you’ll learn the most by bringing the car you drive daily.

Audience: CCC is suitable for all ages and skill levels

Notes: CCC is a prerequisite for GGC High-Performance Driving Schools and Advanced Car Control Clinic

  • Our Advanced Car Control Clinic (ACCC) builds on the skills from CCC, and covers: cornering theory and driving lines, advanced braking techniques (e.g. trail-braking), dynamic weight transfer, and connecting corners together

Audience: ACCC is available to those who’ve already attended CCC

Notes: SUVs and high-center of gravity cars are not permitted at ACCC. Helmets are required. GGC has a limited number of loaner helmets available

  • Give your teen driver skills they can use for the rest of their lives, in an environment surrounded by their peers. Teen CCC teaches concepts and skills far beyond what they’ll learn in Driver’s Education classes.

Audience: Teen CCC is for licensed drivers 16 - 21 years of age

  • Ready for a challenge? The Wet Skidpad event is your chance to experience drifts, slides, and other extreme driving conditions in a low-speed, controlled environment. You’ll learn both skid control and how to finesse at recovering from a major skid.

Audience: CCC is suitable for all ages and skill levels

Notes: SUVs and high-center of gravity cars are not permitted at ACCC. Helmets are required. GGC has a limited number of loaner helmets available

  • GGC’s Women’s Motorsport Day reflects our commitment to an inclusive environment for all members to learn new skills and build communities with those who share a passion for driving.
