Thunderhill Driving School – 3 Mile
November 9 - November 10
Join the Golden Gate Chapter on November 9th & 10th on the 3-mile east course at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, CA for our fall ’19 HPDS.
Thunderhill is a beautiful and challenging race track, making it a great place to learn the art of high-performance driving. GGC’s dedicated team of instructors have extensive and varied experience. Some have backgrounds in racing. Many started in our program as a students, like you, and advanced through to coaching. BMW CCA instructors are trained and qualified via an intensive two-day instructor training program to ensure your safety and a consistent, high quality learning experience.
Our events are driving schools, not open track days; every student is assigned an instructor for the duration of the event. Our focus is on safety and learning. The price for this 2 day event is $749 for BMW CCA members. For non-members, the price is $797, and 1 year membership is included.
For our November 9-10 HPDS at Thunderhill, we’re excited to introduce a run group for solo drivers. If you’ve run with other BMW CCA chapters, you may have heard it called “A-Solo”, “A+”, or the name we’re borrowing from Genesee Valley Chapter, “Group S”.
Group S isn’t just about driving solo. With this new run group, we seek to:
- Create a run group of and for advanced drivers with similar skillsets
- Reduce the likelihood of getting hung up in on-track traffic (e.g. “trains”)
- Develop your skills with on-track exercises suitable for advanced drivers
- Foster more advanced discussion and group learning in the classroom session
Feel like you’re a good candidate for Group S? We’re looking for drivers with solid fundamentals, consistent laps, focus and poise in traffic, and the ability to quickly detect and correct errors.
You’ve worked hard to improve your driving skills, and GGC seeks to help you develop them even further. During registration, indicate if you are interested in Group S, ADC, or both. Be sure to include any relevant driving experience.
The Advanced Data Coaching (ADC) option is available to both advanced (A) run group and Group S drivers. The ADC program is designed to take some of the guesswork out of evaluating driver performance. A data acquisition system and video camera will be mounted to your car. Before each session, you will meet with your driving coach to discuss goals. After each session, your data and video will be analyzed, progress will be assessed, and new goals will be set. This allows you to focus on developing the skills that are most important for you. Group A drivers in ADC will have some in-car instruction, but the focus will be on the data. Registration for ADC program does not guarantee admission. Please ensure all relevant driving experience is noted in your registration.
Our HPDS and Advanced Data Coaching programs receive rave reviews from driving enthusiasts every year. You’ll go home with new skills that you can apply to your daily driving as well as some great memories of doing laps at this fantastic racetrack.
